Train travel for Ukrainian citizens / проїзд потягом для громадян України

From 1 July 2022 free travel for Ukrainian citizens will only be possible with selected rail operators and under certain rules. The purchase of a ticket will be necessary i.a. for long-distance PKP Intercity trains. Please check the information below. The information will be updated on an ongoing basis.

There are several rail carriers in Poland - long-distance carrier PKP Intercity and different carriers that run regional and agglomeration trains. Ukrainian citizens can travel for free on selected trains.

PKP INTERCITY

No free travel.

PKP Intercity opened a special helpline in Ukrainian. This is a dedicated number for Ukrainian citizens who want information in their native language on PKP Intercity timetables and other passenger services. The helpline is open 7 days a week from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.: +48 22 473 00 86 (call cost according to operator's tariff). Information is also available on the PKP Intercity website in two language versions - Polish and Ukrainian.

REGIONAL AND AGGLOMERATION RAIL CARRIERS

Arriva RP

Free travel scheme is valid until 31 August 2022. To travel for free you need a valid passport confirming Ukrainian citizenship. Entitled to free travel are:

  • children and teenagers up to 18 years of age,
  • women (no age limits),
  • men over 60 years of age,
  • men aged 18-60 who are disabled or have reduced mobility.

These persons with Ukrainian citizenship are entitled to free travel if they have:

  • a passport that confirms crossing the Polish border on or after 24 February 2022 or
  • a document with a photo confirming their identity (ID card, driving license, school or student card etc.) and a notification on PESEL number, which was issued after 24 February 2022.

Koleje Dolnośląskie

There is no free travel except for international trains, but only for border crossing connections (e.g. Wrocław - Berlin). Free travel is then possible for:

  • children and teenagers from 4 to 18 years of age,
  • women (no age limits),
  • men over 60 years of age,
  • men aged 18-60 who are disabled or have reduced mobility.

Koleje Małopolskie

Free travel for Ukrainian citizens is valid until further notice. Eligible persons can obtain a free ticket from the staff on the train. Eligible persons are:

  • children and teenagers up to 18 years of age,
  • women (no age limits),
  • men over 60 years of age,
  • men aged 18-60 who are disabled or have reduced mobility.

In order to benefit from free travel scheme, you must present when travelling:

  • a valid passport, confirming the crossing of the border (both Polish and another EU country) on or after 24 February 2022 or
  • a document with a photograph confirming your identity (e.g. ID card, driving licence, school or student card, etc.) together with a PESEL identification number, issued after 24 February 2022.

Koleje Mazowieckie

No free travel.

Koleje Śląskie

No free travel.

Koleje Wielkopolskie

No free travel.

Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna

Free travel scheme continues until further notice. Ukrainian citizens will be entitled to travel on trains of the ŁKA and ŁKA Sprinter categories on the basis of free tickets issued at ticket offices or from the train crew for a one-way journey upon presentation of:

  • a valid passport, confirming the crossing of the border (both Polish and another EU country) on or after 24 February 2022 or
  • a document with a photograph confirming your identity (e.g. ID card, driving licence, school or student card, etc.) together with:
    • a PESEL identification number or
    • "Certificate for Citizens of Ukraine for the purpose of issuing a train ticket" issued by the Voivodship Office. The certificate must be filled in legibly and durably in accordance with the boxes indicated and be endorsed by the issuer with a legible seal (stamp), signature and date. Counterfeit, forged, not belonging to the bearer, issued to unauthorised persons, incorrectly issued with annotations or damaged to such an extent that the data cannot be read, shall be deemed invalid.

The above-mentioned persons will also not be charged for the carriage of goods and animals.

PKP SKM in Tricity

No free travel.

POLREGIO

Travel on POLREGIO trains for refugees who are citizens of Ukraine, i.e.:

  • children and teenagers from 4 to 18 years of age,
  • women (no age limits),
  • men over 60 years of age,
  • men aged 18-60 who are disabled or have reduced mobility.,

from 1 July 2022, will be as follows:

  • from 1 to 31 July 2022 in the Małopolska and Łódzkie Voivodeships: free of charge;
  • from 1 July to 31 August 2022 in the Lubuskie and Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeships: free of charge;
  • from 1 July 2022 within the territory of the following voivodeships: Lubelskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Podlaskie, Podkarpackie, Zachodniopomorskie, Wielkopolskie, Opolskie, Świętokrzyskie, Śląskie, Pomorskie, Dolnośląskie: no free travel.

In the case of relations beyond the voivodeship covered by the possibility of free travel for citizens of Ukraine, the passenger is obliged to purchase tickets according to general rules from the last station within the area of such voivodeship to the new destination station.

SKM Warsaw

No free travel.

Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa (Warsaw Commuter Rail)

No free travel.

Additional information

Passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility when travelling on selected regional trains (indicated above) are obliged to show a document confirming their disability - persons with visible disability are exempt from this obligation.
