Rail passenger services in 2Q 2023
In 2Q 2023 97.2% of rail passengers used public transport services and 2.2% travelled by commercial trains. The remaining 0.6% were passengers on occasional trains. In 2Q 2023 more than 93 m people used rail services, which is an increase by 7.5% year-on-year.

Train punctuality in 3Q 2023
In 3Q 2023 89.6% of passenger trains and just over 51.9% of freight trains reached their final station on time. In 3Q 2023 punctuality for passenger services was on the lowest level for this year, while for freight services it was marginally lower than in 2Q. A total of 583.3 thousand trains were operated by rail carriers.

November train timetable adjustment
A planned autumn adjustment to the annual train timetable came into force on Sunday 12 November 2023. Trains according to this timetable will run until 9 December this year.

Summer holiday trains
The summer holidays were record-breaking for rail companies and passengers in many ways - more passengers, more trains on the tracks, better punctuality. An analysis of the data collected by the Office of Rail Transport shows that this year's holidays brought record figures even when we look at statistics from the last 10 years.

Increasing insurance sums for rail operators in 2022
Every rail carrier - both passenger and freight - must have financial liability insurance. This can be a third-party liability insurance contract or an insurance guarantee contract. The Office of Rail Transport examined the liability insurances of rail operators in 2022. Almost 63% of carriers insured for more than the required amount. It is an increase by 10 pp compared to 2021.

Rail transport usage rate in Polish regions and counties
The Office of Rail Transport examined how rail passenger traffic looked at regional county level in 2022. Sopot, Gdynia, Skierniewice and Grodzisk Mazowiecki county were districts with the highest ratio of the number of rail passengers to the number of inhabitants. At the opposite end of the spectrum are 43 counties - inhabited by 6% of Poland's population - where passengers have no access to railway stations.

Rail transport in September 2023
More than 32.1 million people travelled by rail in September 2023 – 8.5% more than a year earlier. It was the second best monthly performance of the year. The weight of goods transported by rail operators amounted to 19.9 million tonnes – 2.9% less year-on-year.

Rail Safety Academy project 2019-2023
The Rail Safety Academy is one of the projects of the Office of Rail Transport to improve the safety of the rail system in Poland. It is an educational project for rail professionals. In the first edition of the Academy participated over 8,000 people. At the end of the project, the most active participants and lecturers received prizes and awards.

20 years of Polish railways in the statistics of the Office of Rail Transport
The Office of Rail Transport, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, has prepared statistics summarising rail sector in Poland over the past two decades. The data include, i. a., how popular passenger, freight and intermodal transport services were at that time, as well as how many wagons of a given type were owned by carriers. The study also covers other operational and infrastructure data.
