- Railway is the only means of transport able to provide transfer of a large number of passengers in a fast and safe way. That’s why railway travel is becoming the first choice for those who decide to go on vacation or intend to participate in sports, cultural, national or religious events – summed up Mr. Ignacy Góra, Sc. D., President of the Office of Rail Transport (Pol. Urząd Transportu Kolejowego, UTK). – There are more passengers travelling during the holiday season. That’s why UTK’s inspectors conducted additional controlling activities with regard to more than 150 trains. Our actions mobilise the carriers to increase the standard of service toward the passengers – he added.

Between January and August of this year the carriers transported more than 217 million passengers, which is by 13,8 million (6.8%) more than in the corresponding period of last year.
