Punctuality of rail services in the 3rd quarter of 2016

Statistics on the punctuality of rail services in the 3rd quarter of 2016 have been published on UTK website.

91,4% of passenger trains in the 3rd quarter of 2016 arrived on time at their destination. Trains arriving within 5 minutes after schedule are also qualified as punctual. This constitutes an increase in comparison to the relevant period of 2015 when 89,9% of trains were punctual.

The average delay of trains (not counting delays within 5 minutes) fell in 3rd quarter of 2016 in comparison to 2015 by 2 min. 45 sec. The number of launched trains rose significantly from 1, 174 million in the first three quarters of 2015 to 1,273 million in the relative period of 2016. The number of cancelled trains rose from 1747 to 2678 due to high number of cancelation in the 3rd quarter of 2016.

As far as punctuality of freight trains is concerned, 41,5% of freight trains in the 3rd quarter of 2016 arrived on time, which constitutes a rise from 35,5% in the respective period of 2015. The average delays of trains fell in the 3rd quarter from 607 minutes to 465 minutes. The number of launched trains fell from 116 492 in the 3rd quarter of 2015 to 111 795 in 2016.  The number of cancelled trains fell significantly from 8 995 to 5 297.

Freight trains delayed by more than two hours constitute the biggest share in all delayed trains, however this share fell from above 48% to less than 42% of all launched trains.
